Permissions: You must have the Study Configure privilege to create and edit a Study Snapshot.
Create a Study Snapshot to capture the data in a particular data store (staging area or data mart) at that moment in time. By having this snapshot, you can then go back and access this version of the data at a later point in time, if needed. Snapshots can be accessed in Exporter, the Analytics Visualizations, or Mapper.
Snapshots are created from the study level.
Create a Study Snapshot
- Access a study from the elluminate Studies Page, then select Snapshots from the Details drop-down. Snapshots can also be accessed from the Platform Menu under Study Management.
- On the Snapshot window, any previous snapshots display first. To create a new snapshot click on the plus sign at the top right of the window.
The Create Study Snapshot window opens. - The Name field defaults to the Snapshot and today’s date. Optionally, update to a name that makes sense to you. If you give the same name to the study snapshot you are creating as a previous study snapshot, you will get an error message saying the name is a duplicate. Provide a new name for the snapshot.
- Optionally, enter in the Description field, providing more information on the purpose of snapshot.
- Click Save. The Snapshot capture begins, and Pending displays during the processing.
Note: If you receive an error message saying “The study data is being imported or saved. A Snapshot cannot be created at this time,” this is an indication that a data import is in progress. You must wait for the active import to finish before you can create a successful snapshot.
Upon completion, either the message “Successful” or “Failed” will display.
Important: If you receive a Failed message, contact Support@eclinicalsol.com for assistance.
Edit a Study Snapshot
Snapshots have limited editing capabilities. While the content of the snapshot cannot be edited, the name and description of the snapshot can be edited; these are the fields that were available to you when the snapshot was created.
- From the Snapshot window, click on the Edit Snapshot icon from within the snapshot you want to edit. The Edit Study Snapshot window opens.
-
Change the Name and / or the Description of the Snapshot, as appropriate.
- Click Save.
Tip: Remember that a snapshot cannot have the same name as another snapshot. If you give the snapshot the name of another snapshot within the study, you will receive an error message. When you click OK and close the error messages, the original name of the snapshot will still display, and you can click the edit icon again to rename your snapshot.
Delete a Study Snapshot
Snapshots can be deleted by users who have Delete Study privileges.
Important: When a snapshot is deleted, it cannot be undone. A confirmation window displays to ensure the deletion is not done in error.
- From the Snapshot window, click on the Delete Snapshot icon from within the snapshot you want to delete.
- The Delete Snapshot Confirmation window opens. Click Yes to delete the snapshot, or No to cancel the deletion process.
