Configure Data Blinding

Permissions: User must have the Administer or Blinded Data Configure privilege to complete the actions seen in this video.

Note: Row-level data blinding and the use of wildcards seen in this video is only available in versions 23.2 and later.

Instructions: Configure Data Blinding for a Study

  1. From the Edit study window, select the Data Blinding tab.
  2. Any Blindings previously created for this study will be listed here.
  3. To create a new Blinding, click the plus sign at the top right of the toolbar.
  4. When the new line is added:
    1. Select a Data Store.
    2. Enter the Domain name. For multiple Domains, separate each one with a comma or use the * wildcard (23.2+).
    3. Enter the Field name. For multiple Fields, separate each one with a comma or use the * wildcard (23.2+).
    4. Optionally, enter the desired Mask to replace the data, such as Null or N.
    5. Optionally, click the Row icon in the the Row column to open the SQL statement pop-up to customize row-level blinding conditions.
  5. To finalize the blinding settings, click Save.
  6. To delete a blinding and unblind data, click the Delete icon in the corresponding row.

    Important: This cannot be undone.

Instructions: Allow a Specific User to View Blinded Data

  1. To allow a specific user to view blinded data for one or more studies, go to User Management under the Administration category in the Platform Menu.
  2. Double-click the user to open their Privileges.
  3. Click the checkbox next to the Blinded Data View privilege.
  4. Select the studies they have access to view blinded data for.
  5. Click Save to confirm.
