Configure Data Variance

Permissions: User must have the Administer privilege to complete the actions seen in this video.

Instructions

  1. From the Edit study window, select the ETL tab.
  2. To enable Data Variance for a Data Store, click the checkbox in the corresponding row. 

    Important: When configuring Data Variance on a Data Store, variables excluded from domains that are suppressed and not visible will not be tracked for changes. Be sure to first exclude variables for a domain, then enable Data Variance for the datastore.

  3. To confirm there are no errors related to the key identifiers associated with the data, click the icon in the Validate column:
    1. If no errors, usually the case for data coming from common EDC systems, such as Rave, Veeva, or Inform, which provide keys to elluminate:
      1. Those two steps are all that's required.
      2. Close the Validation window and click Save to confirm your changes.
    2. If errors, may be the case for data coming from external sources:
      1. Contact your key configuration resource OR
      2. Input keys in a comma separated list for keys that apply to all fields within the domain, and click the configuration icon in the Overrides column to configure keys for specific fields.
      3. Continue to validate until all errors are resolved.
      4. Once all validation errors are resolved, Close the Validation window and click Save to confirm your changes.
  4. To confirm Data Variance was configured correctly, open Data Central.
  5. Open the desired Data Domain Listing, and ensure the Data Variance icon is in the panel toolbar.
  6. Select the icon to utilize Data Variance.
