The SCE Browser provides the folder structure for all SCE programs, documents, and outputs. Initially, the Global folder is selected and the contents of that folder display in the main window.
The left navigation displays the folder structure for all areas to which you have access.
- Global: available to all users; all users have read / write access
- My Workspace: available to the user only
- Study folders: available to users with the View privilege for a study
Use the Left Navigation
- Expand / Collapse folders: Click the side / down arrows to expand or collapse folders.
- View contents of a folder: Click on a folder and the contents (subfolders / programs) display in the main window.
- Rename a folder: Hover over a folder name and click the Pencil icon. A pop-up opens, update the folder name. Click the checkmark to save your change, or click the x to cancel.
- Add Subfolder: Hover over a folder name and click the Add Subfolder icon. A pop-up opens, update New Folder to the name of your choice. Click the checkmark to save the folder, or click the x to cancel.
- Search: Use the Search drop-down to search by Name, Status, Version, Execution Output, Locked By, Has Dependencies, Is Dependency, Modified By, or Review Comment. In the Search field, select an option from the drop-down or enter text and press Enter. Folders and files with that text display. Notice the Filters icon in the toolbar becomes highlighted. To reset the left navigation to include all folders and files, click the Filters icon and select Clear Filters.
Use the Main Window
The main window displays the contents of the folder selected from the left navigation. This could be subfolders or other program files. Columns include File (or Folder) Name, Status, Issues, Version, Execution Output, Size (KB), Locked By, Has Dependencies, Is Dependency, Modified Date, Modified By, Last Run Date, and Review Comment.
Sort / Filter: Click on a column header name to Sort Ascending, Sort Descending, or Filter.
Fix: Right-click on a column header to Fix the column To the left, or To the right.
Hyperlinked breadcrumbs: View the folders and subfolders of the contents displayed, or click a folder name in the breadcrumb to view the contents of that folder.
Double-click on a folder name and the contents displays (the folder name then displays in the breadcrumb).
Double-click on a file name and that file opens in the Editor.
Navigate the list of folders and files at the bottom of the window by selecting how many rows display on a page (100 is default) and use the arrows at the right to navigate through the pages.
Tip: When Is Dependency is 'Y', click on the 'Y' to open a window to view the full tree where it is being used by any other programs.
Perform Actions: Use the icons on the toolbar, or right-click on a folder or file name to open a list of options. Available actions depend on the selected folder or file. Some actions are only available by using the icons.
- New File: A New File window opens. Enter the Name, Description, and select the Parent Folder where the file will be located. Click Save, or click Cancel to cancel your action.
- Next / Previous Page: Access all folders / programs (only available if there are multiple pages of rows).
- Add Folder / Subfolder: An Add Folder window opens, enter the name of the folder, and click Add, or click cancel to cancel your action.
- Upload: The Upload a File window opens. Drop files or browse to select. Follow the prompts to upload. When uploading zip files, option to extract all contents (including sub directories).
- Download: The file downloads to your computer.
- Copy: A Copy Folder window opens. Select the destination folder. Use the Search field and / or the scrollbar as needed. Click Copy, or click Cancel to cancel your action.
- Move: A Move Folder window opens. Select the destination folder. Use the Search field and / or the scrollbar as needed. Click Move, or click Cancel to cancel your action.
- Rename: A Rename Folder window opens. Update the name of the folder. Click Rename, or Cancel to cancel your action.
- Properties: A Program Details window opens displaying properties of the selected file. Options within this window include Edit (Name and Description), and Open the file within the Editor. Click x or Close to close the window.
- Edit Properties: An Edit Properties window opens with the existing Name and Description. Update and select Save, or Cancel to cancel your action. An additional option within this window is click the Open icon to open the file directly in the Editor.
- Compare: Click to compare the text-based file in view to another file. Use this feature to track changes made across file versions or understand variances across files.
- Run Program: Click on an executable program, such as a .sas program, then click Run Program.
- Lock / Unlock Files: Click on a file, or hold Ctrl and select multiple files to lock or unlock.
- Launch in RStudio: Launch files to an isolated RStudio session for an interactive development experience. Requires an RStudio license per URL.
- Launch in SAS Studio: Launch files to an isolated SAS Studio session for an interactive development experience. Requires a SAS Studio license tied to your elluminate account.
- Issues: Select Create Issue or View Issues.

Change Status: Options depend on the current status of the file.
- In Development - Submit for Review
- In Review - Submit for Approval or Failed Review. If Failed Review is selected, a window opens allowing comments to be entered.
- For Approval - Move to Production or Failed Approval. If Failed Approval is selected, a window opens comments to be entered.
- In Production - Return to Development or Retire.
- Delete: Click on a file, then click the Delete icon. A message will display if it cannot be deleted because another program is dependent on the file.
- Refresh: Click to refresh the list of folders and files.
- Filters: The Filters icon indicates if a filter is applied. A grayed-out filter indicates there are no filters set; a highlighted filter indicates there is at least one filter applied. Click Clear Filters to clear all applied filters, or click the individual filter icon to remove individually.
