Apply Data Cuts in Data Central

This article is currently being updated. Please come back later for updates.

Permissions: All Data Central roles can apply enabled Data Cuts.
Users with the Data Central Designer privilege can configure and manage Data Cuts.

The Data Cut functionality enables users to create a focused view of data deliverables using Advanced Filters. Cutting data allows users to observe relevant records, issues, queries, and subject metrics associated with custom conditions. This method serves to precisely cut or filter a study’s issues, queries, and subject metrics based on their related records. A maximum of 3 data cuts can be enabled for each study.

The Data Cut uses an Advanced Filter to focus on a set of data in multiple Data Central views:

  • Data Central listings: Filters all selected domains (listings) by the Advanced Filter.
  • Visualizations, GPP: Filters all selected Charts and GPP components by the Advanced Filter.
  • Queries, Issues panels: The queries and issues for the selected domains are cut, excluding those not fitting the filter. Queries and Issues raised on Domains not selected in the Advanced Filter display as well.
  • Subjects panel: Any aggregate fields (i.e., from Mapper) in the Subjects panel derived from the selected domains, are cut to reflect the records of the Advanced Filter
  • Records Review Summary panel: The Records Review Summary panel will automatically update with the relevant records / values for the affected domains, and the affected rows will be highlighted when hovering over the data cut pill; otherwise, they will appear normal / regular.

A Data Cut icon is available for all Data Central users. Clicking the icon opens a list of up to three enabled data cuts to choose from, and disabled data cuts.

The presence of an applied data cut is indicated by a filter pill displaying the data cut name in the master header. All panels with the data cut applied have a blue highlight around them when the user hovers over the Data Cut filter pill.
