Apply a Data Variance in Data Central

This article is currently being updated. Please come back later for updates.

Within a domain listing a user can define a date range to see new, changed, and deleted records. Records identified as new are highlighted green and records identified as changed are highlighted orange. Users can also access a link to a list of deleted records for the defined time period.

Important: This feature must first be enabled in Study Configuration, and all datasets must have identifying keys configured in the ETL tab. (Datasets from Rave automatically have keys defined.)

Apply a Data Variance to a Domain Listing

  1. Access a domain listing.
  2. Click the Data Variance icon in the panel toolbar. The Data Variance pop-up opens.

  3. Update the Between and dates by typing over the dates displayed, or use the calendar icon in each date field.
    1. Optionally, update the time.
  4. By default, the Highlight New Records and Highlight Updated Records are selected. Uncheck to exclude new or updated records.

Note: With both options selected, any records that did not exist in the first date are highlighted green (new record) if they existed at the second date.
If a record existed at the first date and was changed by the second date, that record is highlighted orange (changed record).

To identify records that did not exist at the first date, but were created and updated before the second date, disable 'Highlight New Records' to remove the overriding highlight. When highlighting new records, those records will be identified as new, but when identifying changed records, they will be identified as changed.

  5. To view deleted records within the defined date range, click the Show Deleted Records link. A separate listing displays the list of deleted records.

Changed data will be highlighted Orange

Tip: To see highlighted rows for all records in the panel, use the arrows in the panel toolbar to page through all records in the panel.
