Take Snapshots in Analytics

Snapshots capture a visualization, including charts and listings, with current data selections and filters. Saved snapshots are available for use in Stories.

Note: The Snapshot feature in Analytics differs from Study Snapshots, which are created using the Snapshot feature in elluminate.

Create a Snapshot

Create a snapshot from an individual chart or listing. Add an optional annotation or description to provide context for the snapshot.

  1. Hover over the chart or listing to display the available options.
  2. Click the More (...) icon, or right-click the chart or listing.
  3. Select Storytelling snapshots, then select Take snapshot. The Snapshot annotation window opens.
  4. Enter an optional description for the snapshot.
  5. Click Save. If no description is entered, the snapshot saves automatically.

The snapshot includes the chart or listing name and the date. It is saved to the Snapshot library and is available for use in Stories.

Tip: Open the chart or listing in full screen mode before taking a snapshot to include more data. Snapshot functionality is available in full screen view.

Edit a Snapshot

Use the Snapshot library to edit a snapshot description. Each visualization has its own Snapshot library.

  1. Access the Snapshot library using the same menu used to create a snapshot:
    • Click the More (...) icon, or right-click the chart or listing.
    • Select Storytelling snapshots > Snapshot library. The Snapshot library opens.

  2. Click the Edit icon. The description field enters edit mode.
  3. Update or remove the description.
  4. Click the Edit icon again to stop editing. The snapshot name cannot be changed.
  5. Click outside the Snapshot library to close the window.

Delete a Snapshot

Use the Snapshot library to delete a snapshot.

Important: Deleting a snapshot permanently removes it. No confirmation message or undo option is available.

  1. Access the Snapshot library using the same menu used to create a snapshot:
    • Click the More (...) icon, or right-click the chart or listing.
    • Select Storytelling snapshots > Snapshot library. The Snapshot library opens.
  2. Click the Edit icon.

  3. Select the checkbox for the snapshot to delete.

    Note: The Delete icon is available only after a snapshot is selected.

  4. Click the Delete icon.
