Permissions:
SCE: Allows the user access to the SCE and the ability to navigate and use the SCE components.
SCE Configure: Allows the user to edit URL, study settings, customize roles, assign users to roles, and assign permissions on individual folders in the SCE.
In addition to users having the SCE or SCE Configure privilege, they must also have the View privilege for the studies they need access to.

The Statistical Computing Environment (SCE) is a tool used by programmers and statisticians to develop and maintain programs and scripts from popular programming languages, such as SAS, R, and Python, and execute those programs against data within the elluminate platform.

Features

Program Development

  • Full version control and access management
  • Development lifecycle workflows
  • Customizable folder structure within and across studies
  • Global area for storage of reusable code snippets, macros, and functions
  • Intelligent editor with language-specific syntax highlighting

Execution

  • Integrated compute environment for SAS, R, and Python
  • Batch execution of programs on demand or scheduled
  • Error reporting and display of results
  • Full execution history and audit trail of user actions

Automation

  • Dependency tracking for both data and inherited code
  • Automated execution of programs based on data refresh

Access the SCE

The SCE is accessed from the Platform Menu under Data Mapping & Computing by users with SCE privileges.

The SCE Home tab is displayed by default. Additional tabs across the top provide access to the Editor, Browser, Jobs, and Settings windows.

Study Selector

The Study Selector enables selection of active studies. Once a study or multiple studies are selected, only associated files and dependencies appear in the left navigation of the Editor and Browser pages. The selected studies also determine which items appear in the Data subpanel, and this selection affects all folder structures, new file creation, and move or copy operations within those studies.

The Global and My Workspace folders always remain visible in the left navigation. Study selections persist across logins and are available on the Home and Jobs pages.

Individual, multiple, or all studies can be selected. The search field can also be used to dynamically filter the list while typing.

SCE Home

The SCE Home page provides a dynamic, task-driven workspace displaying recently accessed programs and submitted execution jobs.

From this page, work can resume seamlessly from the last session, improving productivity and efficiency.

My Programs

The My Programs section displays the program name, version, folder location, and the most recent access date and time for each item.

Program names appear as hyperlinks. Selecting a name opens the program in the Editor window.

The number displayed in the blue badge indicates the total count of programs currently locked for editing.

Icons:

  • Create a New File: Opens the New File window.
  • View All Programs: Opens the Browser window.

My Jobs

The My Jobs section displays the name and version of the executed file, folder location, and job status for each item.

Selecting a job opens the Jobs window.

Badges indicate the number of jobs queued (scheduled to run) in orange and the number of jobs running in green.

Icon:

  • View My Jobs: Opens the Jobs window filtered to programs executed by the user.

Notifications

The Notifications icon, located on the right side of the master header, provides access to timely updates related to studies.

SCE notifications are integrated with all in-elluminate notifications (such as Data Central), offering a single, centralized location for updates.

This integration minimizes the need for manual checks and supports efficient prioritization and response to tasks.

SCE Notifications

Notifications are generated for the following SCE task events:

  • Completion of an execution job initiated by the user
  • Assignment of an SCE issue to the user
  • Updates made by another user to an SCE issue originally created by the user
  • Unlocking of an SCE file previously locked by the user, performed by a user with SCE Configure or Admin privileges
  • Changes to the user’s SCE role within an assigned study
