Assign Workspace Defaults to a Role in Data Central

This article is currently being updated. Please come back later for updates.

Permissions: Users must have Data Central and Study Configure permissions.

A study can be configured with a designated default workspace based on the user’s reviewer role in Data Central.  The Study Configure privilege (or higher) is required to set a default workspace for a role.

The default workspace for the user’s Data Central reviewer role applies the first time a user logs in.  After that, if the user has selected the ‘Use User Workspace’ settings option in Data Central, whatever the user was displaying in the last session will be the workspace displayed on the next login.  If the ‘Use User Workspace’ was not checked, the default workspace for that user’s role will be displayed, and if there is no default workspace defined for the user’s role, the system default workspace is displayed.

Users can recover their default workspace at any time by selecting it from the Workspace drop-down.

Workspace Defaults Settings

  1. In Data Central, click the Data Central Settings icon.
  2. Under Data Central Settings, click Workspace Defaults.
Selecting this option opens a window allowing the user to select a workspace name from a drop-down list available for each role configured for the URL. Roles typically include Read Only, Data Manager, Medical Data Reviewer, Medical Coder, and (optionally) custom roles configured for the study.  Workspace defaults can be assigned to a single reviewer role, or can be used with more than one reviewer role.
  3. In the Role Workspace Defaults window, click the drop-down arrow for each role to select a default workspace.

  4. Select from the list of available workspaces.
  5. Click Save.

Note: For the Read Only role, the workspace is Default. This is the system default, typically showing the Subjects listing on the first sheet of the workspace.

To clear a dashboard selection, click the 'x' at the right.
