Permissions: Users must have the Data Central Designer privilege to configure and manage Data Cuts.
Data Cuts can be configured and enabled for studies to achieve data review goals. Several data cuts can be created for a study, however, up to 3 Data Cuts for a study can be enabled at one time.
A Data Cut is created by adding an Advanced Filter.
Avoid warnings when creating a Data Cut:
- Advanced Filters can be configured on data that is not yet present in the study. In contrast, a Data Cut requires the target fields defined in the Advanced Filter to exist in the target domains. If the fields are not present, the Data Cut fails to build.
- If Query functionality is enabled for the study, Query records must exist in the Query table. If no Query records are present, the Data Cut fails to build.
Configure a Data Cut
- Within a Data Central study, click the Data Cuts icon in the master header.
- Click the + Add Data Cut button. The Add Data Cut window opens.
- Name: Enter the name of the Data Cut.
- Description: Enter a description of the Data Cut. This field is optional; however, users may find a detailed description helpful. It appears when hovering over the name of the Data Cut..
- Enable and Disable a Data Cut: By default, Disable is selected. Select Enable to enable the Data Cut. Three Data Cuts can be enabled at one time.
- Advanced Filter: Select the Advanced Filter. Use the Search field if needed.
The Advanced Filter Preview opens in the lower section of the window. Click Save to save the Data Cut, or click Cancel to cancel the action.
Tip: If a warning occurs and the data cut fails to save, confirm data is present in the target domains in the Advanced Filter; and if Query functionality is enabled for the study, there are Query records in the Query table.
