Permissions: Users must have the Study Configure privilege to enable elluminate Assist. All Data Central users can use elluminate Assist.

elluminate Assist is a Generative AI chatbot that leverages large language models to simplify user interaction with SDTM clinical trial data. Unlike traditional software applications that follow fixed rules, Generative AI produces responses based on historical data patterns, enabling more relevant and context-aware answers.

At its core, elluminate Assist uses Generative AI to interpret plain-language user prompts, generate accurate SQL code, and retrieve the resulting data. This version exclusively focuses on SDTM data within Data Central. It connects complex data queries with a user-friendly interface, reducing manual data searches and providing immediate insights into study data. This streamlines the review process and supports informed decision-making by simplifying how users interact with complex datasets.

Important: elluminate Assist is not enabled by default and must be enabled in Study Settings. Depending on the client configuration, a System Administrator may enable elluminate Assist or enablement may require assistance from an eClinical Solutions representative.

Key Features

  • User-Specific Access: Each user's chatbot is associated with and unique to their elluminate account, ensuring data security and compliance with user permissions and data blinding.
  • Chat History: This feature retains conversation content within a session, enabling follow-up questions without repeating the initial prompt. Up to 10 previous chats are stored, and prompts from the last 30 days are saved in each chat.
  • Advanced SQL Query Capabilities: The chatbot supports complex joins, aggregations, and statistical analyses (e.g., averages, minimums, and maximums). For highly complex queries or ambiguous requests, break down the prompt into smaller, more manageable questions.

Supported Domains and Data

elluminate Assist supports data retrieval and analysis across the following SDTM domains:

  • AE: Adverse Events
  • CM: Concomitant Medications
  • DM: Demographics
  • DS: Disposition
  • EG: ECG Test Results
  • EX: Exposure
  • LB: Laboratory Tests
  • MH: Medical History
  • PR: Procedures
  • SV: Subject Visits
  • VS: Vital Signs

Note: Data outside the domains listed above, or unrelated topics, are not supported (for example, requesting directions to a site). elluminate Assist is designed to understand conversational language; however, precise questions and domain-specific terminology are required to avoid ambiguity.
