Export or Import Configured Study Attributes

This article is currently being updated. Please come back later for updates.

elluminate supports exporting configuration items associated with a study. This is especially useful when migrating between URLs, such as moving from a test environment to a production environment. Exporting a configuration item generates an Excel spreadsheet with details based on the selected options.

This feature does not export study data. However, if selected, it can include metadata such as data source details, as well as import and export definitions for a study or global data store.

Export Configuration Items

  1. Click the 9-dot icon to open the Platform Menu.
  2. Select Configuration under Platform Configuration on the left side of the menu. The Configuration window opens.
  3. Click the Export icon, or click the drop-down arrow next to the Export icon and select Export Configuration.... The Export System Configuration window opens.
    Export Configuration
  4. In the System section, select the checkboxes for the configuration items to be exported. To select all items, select the checkbox next to the Configuration header.
    Export System Configuration
  5. In the Studies section, select the checkboxes for the studies to be exported. To select all studies, select the checkbox next to the Study header.
    1. To include Data Source, Import Definition, Export Definition, Validator (definition), or ETL Keys details for a study, select the corresponding checkboxes.
  6. In the Global Data Stores section, select the checkboxes for the Global Data stores to be exported. To select all Global Data Stores, select the checkbox next to the Global Data Stores header.
    1. To include Data Source, Import Definition, Export Definition, or Validator details for a Global Data Store, select the corresponding checkboxes.
  7. Click Export. An Excel spreadsheet containing the selected configuration details is downloaded. This file can then be used to provision another URL.

Note: Validator definitions can be selectively included in system configuration exports. When selected, a Validator Definitions tab is added to the exported Excel file, containing validation rules, domain-specific inclusions or exclusions, and the selected standard. These definitions can be reviewed in the file and imported into another study as needed. Important: The exported file is not validator-exclusive unless the export is configured that way. If additional configuration items are included in the export, importing the file applies those items as well, so it is recommended to review the export contents before reuse.

Note: When ETL Keys is selected for export, the Keys and Overrides columns are included in the StudySchema tab of the exported Excel file. When ETL Keys is not selected, these columns are not included. This prevents unintended changes to ETL Keys and Overrides during configuration import, protecting existing review progress and study status.
