elluminate Analytics provides interactive visualizations of study data, enabling authorized users to conduct robust in-study and cross-trial reporting and analysis.
The following Analytics apps are available:
-
Clinical Data Analytics (CDA): Enables cross-domain and cross-study data exploration. CDA facilitates trend and outlier identification, offering traditional line listings, descriptive statistics, and visual patient profiles. Data is sourced from the Reporting data mart and always reflects the latest data integrated into elluminate. URL-level grouping is available by compound, therapeutic area, or program.
Note: Oncology studies include additional oncology-specific sheets.
- Clinical Trials Operational Analytics (CTOA): Provides an overview of operational data, including enrollment, query and audit metrics, adverse event rates, and protocol deviations. URL-level grouping is available by compound, therapeutic area, or program.
- Operational Oversight (OO): Offers a dashboard view of operational data designed for broad operational data consumption. Pre-defined visualizations, based on Operational Data Repository tables, can be used directly or as templates for customized sheets.
- Sample Management Analytics (SMA): Automates and streamlines trial sample tracking. Standard sheets provide automated data reconciliation, sample journey visualizations, and statistical and overview reports for real-time sample tracking.
-
Clinical Data Analytics Study Snapshot: Contains the same sheets as the CDA app, but is limited to study snapshots, a point-in-time capture of all study data.
Note: Study snapshots do not include current data. - Custom Analytics: Hosts custom apps created using custom data models. No standard sheets are provided; all sheets must be created within each custom app.
If CDA and CTOA applications are configured for URL-level grouping, the application name reflects the grouped applications.
Key Features
- URL-Level Grouping: CDA and CTOA apps can be grouped by compound, therapeutic area, or program at the URL level.
- Data Source: Most visualizations use data from the Reporting data mart.
- Standard Visualizations: A library of standard sheets is available in CDA, CTOA, OO, and SMA apps.
- Customization: Create customized sheets by duplicating an out-of-the-box sheet or creating sheets from scratch.
- Filtering: Use filters (or selections) to limit results to areas of interest. Selections persist across sheets, allowing filtering across domains and visualizations.
- Bookmarks: Save frequently used selections as bookmarks for easy access.
- Issue Tracking: Create and manage issues directly from Analytics sheets.
- Review Registration: Register a review of a sheet.
Note: Be sure the browser is one supported by elluminate Analytics. See details on supported browsers under FAQs.
Tip: Maximize spreadsheet workflow! Open two sheets in separate browser tabs; the filter settings remain consistent between them, allowing for quick comparisons using the same criteria across different data sets. However, to apply different filters to each sheet independently, open each sheet in a different browser (e.g., Chrome and Edge).
Access Analytics
From the elluminate Platform Menu, select Analytics under Data Review.
The Analytics landing page opens.
Analytics Landing Page
The Analytics landing page displays available apps.
CDA and CTOA apps can be grouped by compound, therapeutic area, or program; the app name reflects this grouping at the URL level.
Note: Studies must have complete compound, therapeutic area, and program fields in their configuration to be included in a group.
To view all apps, scroll down.
Each app card displays the app name, version, deployment date and time, the last data model reload time, and icons that provide access to:
- The Home Page sheet
- The Overview page
- An app description (hover over the 'i' icon)
- The Favorites feature (add the app to favorites; view only favorite apps by clicking the Favorites icon in the master header).
Clicking the app card or the Home icon opens the Home Page sheet; clicking the Overview icon opens the Overview page:
-
Home Page: Displays summary information for all the studies in the app, or for selected studies. The default view shows data for all included studies.
Note: Key Performance Indicators are consistent across all CDA apps.
- Overview page: Displays available sheets, bookmarks, and stories. Click a sheet to open it. Users can also create new sheets from this page.

Analytic Sheet Visibility
CDA, CTOA, SMA, and OO support two sheet visibility options that help organizations customize Analytics.
- Hide Out-of-the-Box Sheets: Hide specific or all standard sheets so only selected standard sheets, custom sheets, or community-created sheets display.
- Restrict Sheet Access by User Group: Control sheet visibility through elluminate user groups so users see only the sheets assigned to their role. Users who are not assigned to a restricted group continue to see all sheets by default. The Home Page and Application Information sheets remain visible to all users.
Support-Managed Configuration: Both sheet visibility options require configuration by eClinical Solutions Support. Contact Support to request these changes.
