Active Dynamic Mapping Templates (DMTs) are automatically applied when the specified source tables are imported and the data matches the defined scope. Automatically created domains display in the Domains list for the target mapping specified during template configuration.
Dynamic mapping templates can also be linked manually to a specific study by creating a mapped domain based on the template.
Important: Domains created from Dynamic Mapping Templates respect user privileges and configured Data Blinding rules. If the execution account has the Blinded Data View privilege, unblinded values may be included in generated domains and downstream outputs. Verify that execution privileges and Data Blinding settings align with the study’s blinding strategy.
To manually link a Dynamic Mapping Template:
- From the Platform Menu, select Mapper under Study Management or Global Data Stores Management.
- From the right side of the Platform Menu, select a study or global data store. The Mapper window opens.
- Select the mapping in the Mappings section (top section) that includes the dynamic template. Existing domains display in the Domains section.
- In the Domains section, click the drop-down arrow next to New, then select New / Update from Template. The New From Dynamic Template window opens.
- Select the checkboxes next to the dynamic template names to include.
- Click Add / Update Domains. The new domain displays in the Domains list for the selected mapping.
Note: The domain appears with a lightning bolt and 'A' icon, indicating it is a dynamically created domain.
Note: If no tables matching the source tables for the template are found in the data store for that study, the template is not added.
Important: Editing an automatically created domain breaks the link between the created domain and the dynamic mapping template. This can prevent the template from functioning correctly, as it may attempt to create a duplicate domain in the mapping. A domain created from a dynamic mapping template cannot overwrite a manually created domain.
Important: If a domain with the lightning bolt and 'A' icon is selected and edited (either transformations or details), saving the changes triggers a warning that the domain is no longer linked to the template. This may cause issues if new source tables matching the dynamic template are later imported.
For example, if source tables VS1 and VS2 are used to create a VS_Combined table, and the VS_Combined domain is edited after import, any additional table (such as VS3) added later to the imported data will not be included in the VS_Combined domain.
