Each column header in a Data Listing includes a Statistics option that displays metrics and visualizations for the data in that column. Column statistics help users understand data distributions, identify outliers and data quality issues, and make more informed review and filtering decisions.
Statistics display differently depending on the column's data type: String, DateTime, or Numeric.
Statistics Available by Column Data Type
The Statistics popout displays a table of unique values with counts and percentages, along with the following metrics and visualizations, based on the column's data type:
- String columns: Data Type, Critical, Unique Count, Null Count, and a distribution bar chart.
- DateTime columns: Data Type, Critical, Unique Count, Null Count, Minimum and Maximum values, and a distribution bar chart.
- Click Day, Week, Month, or Year to change the chart's grouping. Month is selected by default.
- Numeric columns: Data Type, Critical, Unique Count, Null Count, Minimum, Median, Mean, and Maximum values, and a Box Plot or SD Plot (Standard Deviation Plot) visualization. Box Plot is selected by default.
Access Column Statistics
- Click the column header. A drop-down menu opens.
- Select Statistics. The Statistics popout opens, displaying the column name and label.
Sort Within Column Statistics
Click the Value, Count, or Percentage column header to sort the table. The distribution chart updates to reflect the current sort order. Sorting applies only within Column Statistics and does not affect the listing.
Filter from Column Statistics
Click a row in the table to filter the listing to that value. The Filter icon shades to indicate an active filter.
For String columns, the selected values are highlighted in the distribution chart. The chart reflects the filtered data the next time Column Statistics opens. For DateTime and Numeric columns, the visualization reflects the filtered data the next time Column Statistics opens.
String columns support selecting multiple rows. DateTime and Numeric columns support selecting a single row.
Click the shaded Filter icon to remove the filter.
Note: The filter also displays in the Local section of the Filter Panel and in the Applied Filters popout, where it can be reviewed or removed.
